Understanding Which Rooms Destabilize

Different room types behave differently when a temple run ends:

Reliquaries and Vaults of Reverence only destabilize after Path of Exile 2 Currency being complete.d
Some encounter rooms destabilize when the temple closes, but only if explicitly stated in their description.on
Core progression rooms tend to persist longer

This means that selectively clearing or skipping certain rooms can help you control which parts of the layout disappear.

Resetting the Temple by Beating Bosses

Defeating the Royal Architect

If you want a more impactful reset, your next goal should be the Royal Architect.

Defeating the Architect causes multiple rooms in your Vaal Temple to disappear, effectively rolling back much of your progress and opening up the layout for restructuring. This is often the best option if your temple is partially broken, but you can still reach the boss.

Interestingly, dying to the Royal Architect may also cause room destabilization, though this behavior may change in future patches.

Full Reset by Defeating Atziri

For a complete reset, you'll need to defeat Atziri, the final boss of the Vaal Temple.

Killing Atziri triggers a full temple reset, wiping the entire layout clean and allowing you to start from scratch. This is the only way to fully redo your Vaal Temple without waiting for gradual destabilization over multiple runs.

In some cases, dying to Atziri can produce a similar effect, though cheap POE 2 Currency relying on death mechanics is risky and potentially subject to balance changes.
